Missions

"they'll know we are christians by our love"

Cary Presbyterian Church supports many ministries and organizations, both locally and globally, through member involvement and financial gifts. From organizing within our church community, to supporting outside organizations that serve others, CPC is actively working to serve God and spread Christ's love.

BE The HANDS!

Be the Hands is a week full of service opportunities partnering with local non-profit agencies to provide support to their ministries. Since the project began in November 2017, hundreds of volunteers have joined in this intergenerational service project that culminates with dinner and fellowship. The bulk of Be the Hands activities are moving to the spring in 2025. Find out more on our Be the Hands page.

ESPERANZA de Guatemala

CPC partners with Monte Sinai Iglesia Presbyterian in the highland town of Nimasac, Guatemala. We work with the indigenous people of Guatemala, the Maya, focusing on education and economic development through Esperanza de Guatemala, a 501(c)3 non-profit.

APPALACHIA SERVICE PROJECT (ASP)

Every summer, CPC sends intergenerational teams to ASP sites in rural Appalachia where they spend one week repairing residents’ homes, interacting with those living in the area, and growing in their understanding of God’s service to others. Applications for spots on the CPC team are generally available in February for adults and youth who have completed 8th grade.

Oak city Cares

Oak City Cares is a public-private partnership that connects individuals and families who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness to coordinated services that create a path to stable housing and renewed hope. One Sunday each month CPC members prepare and serve a meal at the Oak City Cares center in Raleigh.

Community Organizations

Through member involvement and direct financial support, CPC supports numerous local organizations, including:
Dorcas Ministries
Loaves & Fishes
Meals on Wheels
The Carying Place
Wheels 4 Hope

RISE AGAINST HUNGER

Rise Against Hunger is driven by the vision of a world without hunger. Inter-generational teams meet in a fun atmosphere at CPC to pack meals for school lunches around the world (including Guatemala and Haiti) at certain scheduled times during the year. The meals provide nutrition and encourage school attendance. Rise Against Hunger is headquartered in Raleigh.

SOCIAL JUSTICE MINISTRY

The Social Justice Ministry at CPC is dedicated to respectful communication forums that raise awareness of and promote dialogue around issues of social justice. All CPCers are welcome to join our meetings, and our events are open to the church and broader communities.

MADAGASCAR MISSIONARIES

CPC currently supports Presbyterian missionaries, Dan and Elizabeth Turk, in Madagascar. Dan Turk works on reforestation and other environmental projects in Madagascar. Elizabeth is a nurse and works on a variety of public health projects. Find out more about the Turks and their work here.

special offerings

Cary Presbyterian participates in two of the four church-wide Special Offerings of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) that are a collective witness to Jesus Christ’s love for the whole church: One Great Hour of Sharing during Lent/Easter and the Christmas Joy Offering. Over the years these offerings have provided ways for individuals and congregations to join each other and partner with other Christians in responding to a variety of concerns.

PCUSA's Matthew 25 INITIATIVE

Matthew 25 is a PC(USA) initiative to actively engage in today's world as followers of Christ. Find out more about CPC's commitment to this initiative at our Matthew 25 page.
