Deacons are officers of the church, called by God, elected by the congregation to bring their gifts of compassion to bear in helping to provide care and support for members and their families. Each deacon cares for a designated group of CPC members that she/he touches base with on a regular basis. For example, if there is threat of inclement weather, calls are made to ensure folks have what they need before the storm and are OK after the storm. Deacons also make calls and visits to people who are on CPC’s prayer list or who are hospitalized. They arrange quarterly to share communion with those who are interested but may be unable to come to church.
Deacons also coordinate support from church volunteers for members with particular health needs through meals and/or transportation.
