"As for those who in the present age are rich, command them not to be haughty, or to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but rather on God who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, generous, and ready to share, thus storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of the life that really is life."
1 Timothy 6:17-19

After careful study and prayerful discernment, the Cary Presbyterian Church Session formed the Legacy Fund in June 2024. The purpose of the Fund is to nurture and strengthen the financial foundation of this congregation as a means of sustaining and furthering the ministries of our church. The Fund aims to be a form of responsible stewardship following several other wise financial stewardship decisions, such as paying off our mortgage and being debt free since 2015, living within our means through a balanced budget, and maintaining reserves for future capital improvements.
The Legacy Fund provides an opportunity for our members and friends to respond to God's grace in their lives with gifts of gratitude, and to promote the financial health and resilience of the Church and its Ministries. Gifts to the Fund will be conservatively invested and the proceeds endowed to the operating budget with equal thirds going to External Missions, Internal Ministries, and Capital Reserves. This additional source of income outside our normal planned giving will have a measurable impact, especially as the Fund balance grows and appreciates.
Gifts to the Fund will generally come from bequests. Beyond educating the congregation on the Fund, tax implications, giving plans, etc., most efforts to solicit gifts will be through personal, individual contact. There will be no mass effort as seen in a Capital Campaign. The Fund is meant for members and their families to contribute to the life and health of CPC in the future through endowing gifts in wills and trusts today.
We have been graced with many faithful people who have built beneath us a strong foundation upon which we continue to do the work of God in this place and indeed around the world. Your generosity is extremely important and greatly appreciated.
