Make a joyful noise unto the Lord! This is the credo of the Cary Presbyterian music ministry. In our congregation, music is a very significant part of the worship and education experience. There are many opportunities available for people of all ages to become involved. In addition to Chancel Choir Sunday worship anthems that enhance our worship experience, we have Youth and Rainbow Choir opportunities, summer/fall music camp experiences, special music presentations during Advent and Lenten seasons, and performances by our Brass Ensemble as well as individual instrumentalists throughout the year.
All music for worship services and special presentations are planned through the Director of Music and Ministers with the help of the Music and Worship Ministry and Liturgy teams to further enhance a meaningful worship experience.
If you are interested in participating in our music programs, either by performing or planning, we invite you to share your musical talent as we worship together!
The Chancel Choir is a mixed adult (SATB) choir. Members range in age from high school through adult who sing for Sunday worship services September through May. In addition to regular Sunday services, the choir has major presentations during the Christmas and Easter seasons. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 7:30-9:00 p.m. in the Choir Room (Room #108). The full choir sings at the 11:00 a.m. service, with opportunities for smaller ensembles, quartets, and soloists at the 8:30 a.m. service. There are no choir rehearsals from June to August as other vocal and instrumental musicians provide music to enhance worship.
Have you ever thought of joining the choir? All that is needed is a desire to serve through singing, a voice that blends with others, and a commitment to regular rehearsal and service attendance. Being a part of the choir heightens worship experiences through musical leadership at worship; enhances spiritual growth from singing scriptural and devotional texts; and develops lasting friendships. If you would like to be part of this exciting group, come to a rehearsal any Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the choir room. You will be glad you did! For questions or more information, contact Ed Yasick, the Director of Music at email@example.com.
Soloists sing as cantors in worship, at weddings, as soloists for major works with the choir, or during the summer. For questions or more information, contact Ed Yasick, the Director of Music at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All young people, second through fifth grade, are invited to be a part of the Youth Choir. This group incorporates instruments, simple harmonies sings fun music. Rehearsals are on Sunday evenings from 5:15 – 6:00 p.m. (prior to Youth Group meetings) September through May in the adult choir room (Room #108). See the Link and worship bulletins for information about upcoming rehearsals and events. For more information, contact Julie Henry, the Youth Choir Director, at email@example.com.
We invite all children ages four through first grade to join the Rainbow Choir. Rehearsals are Sundays at 9:45 a.m. September through May in the Education Building. They sing during the worship service several times a year. For more information, contact the Rainbow Choir Director, Corrine Kadlec at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
CPC is very fortunate to have a number of congregational members who are willing to share their musical talents. We invite you to join them! Instrumental Musicians may accompany the choir, play alone or join in a small ensemble for services or programs and sometimes children’s programs. The brass ensemble plays for Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday services. We are always looking for new members to join us.
Conductors are especially needed for the brass ensemble and small instrumental ensembles. Also needed are pianists and organists who can accompany an ensemble or children’s choir, play for hymn sings, help lead children’s choirs, or substitute when the Director of Music is absent.
If you have musical gifts to share, contact Ed Yasick, the Director of Music at email@example.com.
CPC offers varied opportunities for Dramatic Expression. A youth musical is generally prepared and performed during the summer/fall with rehearsals beginning in August. Often, a Youth Music Camp is offered in the summer. Christmas pageants and/or plays use the talents of both young and older actors. Announcements for upcoming musical/dramatic events can be found in the Link and worship bulletins.
The Music and Worship Team is responsible for coordinating all worship activities of Cary Presbyterian Church and supporting the music programs of the church. The team meets one night a month to evaluate the past month’s music and worship programs and to plan and coordinate the upcoming worship services and special programs. Please check the Calendar of Events to find out when they meet (usually the second Tuesday of each month in the library).
