Lori was claimed in the waters of baptism as an infant, ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament by the Presbytery of New Hope in 1993. After serving for 10 years as Associate Minister at First Presbyterian, Durham, she entered the world of Intentional Interim Ministry. She also is a Spiritual Formation facilitator with first year students at Duke Divinity School.

Education: BA, Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas; MEd, University of Texas, Denton; MDiv, Columbia Theological Seminary, Decatur, Georgia

Family: Lori’s spouse, Terry Allebaugh, is the Community Impact Coordinator for The NC Coalition to End Homelessness, with specific emphasis on ending veteran homelessness.



photo of Associate Pastor Mitzi Lester-ThomasReverend Mitzi Lesher-Thomas
Mitzi is a native of Northern Virginia but has lived in North Carolina since 1999. After serving as hospital chaplain at UNC Memorial, Mitzi was a solo pastor in Duplin County and then in Sanford before taking time away from ministry to be with her then young children. Prior to coming to CPC, Mitzi served at Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian in Chapel Hill.

Education: BA, Mary Baldwin College, Staunton, VA; MDiv/MA in Christian Education from Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education, Richmond, VA.

Family: Troy, Mitzi’s husband, is also an ordained PC(USA) pastor who is currently serving in interim ministry.

Reverend Alan Bancroft, Youth Fellowship Coordinator
Alan works closely with the Youth and Families Ministry team and volunteer youth advisors to coordinate engaging and enriching programs for our youth. He is an ordained PC(USA) pastor with more than 10 years of experience including Youth, Campus, and Transitional ministries. Most recently, he served Discovery Church in Clayton, NC as interim pastor. He has been a campus minister for UKirk Nashville, the Presbyterian Campus Ministry serving Vanderbilt University and Belmont University, and associate pastor for youth and families at Harpeth Presbyterian Church in Brentwood, Tennessee. Alan is a graduate of Columbia Theological Seminary.Alan, his wife Gracyn, and their son live in Cary.

Barbara maintains the financial records for both Cary Presbyterian Church and its Preschool. Previously she has worked as an audit and tax accountant for a CPA firm in Chevy Chase, MD, and as Controller/VP of Finance for a home builder and real estate developer in Bethesda, MD. Barbara has a B.S. in Accounting from Virginia Tech.

Barbara has been married to her husband, Chip, for more than 30 years and they have two daughters.

Medora supports faith formation and intentional Christian education for all ages. She currently serves on the Presbytery of New Hope’s Christian Education Team and is very active in the Association of Presbyterian Church Educators. Medora also has served on the PC(USA) Educator Certification Committee. Prior to coming to Cary, Medora was a church educator in Iowa, Delaware, New Jersey, Ontario, and Florida. She holds a Masters in Religious Education from McMaster Divinity School in Hamilton, Ontario.

Medora is married to Duane, a retired Presbyterian minister. They have three adult children and five grandchildren.

Angie works with the Preschool staff to maintain strict standards, according to our state license. She connects with church board members to keep our Preschool program up to date, while staying true to the standards that have made Cary Presbyterian Preschool known for excellence for more than 30 years. Angie has a B.S. in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University.

Angie and her husband, Brandon, are active members of CPC and have three sons.

Phil manages the day to day communication activities for CPC, including oversight and production of published materials from bulletins to handouts, as well as CPC’s digital media and online presence. Phil also ensures the efficient and effective operation of the church office. Phil graduated from Oral Roberts University and UNC Greensboro.



photo of Parish Nurse, Mandy NestorMandy Nester, Parish Nurse
Mandy is a Registered Nurse who oversees CPC’s Parish Nurse Ministry. She promotes holistic health and wholeness in the congregation through one-on-one interaction, counseling, support through grief and suffering, advocacy, resources, referral, and education. Mandy’s nursing experience includes pulmonary and sleep medicine, pediatric home health, gastroenterology, and geriatric care. She completed her A.A.S. in Applied Science in Nursing from the University of Alaska, Anchorage, and her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Southern New Hampshire University.

Mandy and her husband, Dave, have two children.

Ron’s day-to-day responsibilities include maintenance of the function and appearance of the church and preschool property. He works closely with the Building and Grounds Ministry team. Ron also has worked as a carpenter/contractor and construction superintendent.

Ron is married and has one son.

Ed oversees the entire music program at Cary Presbyterian Church, ensuring a balanced and extensive music ministry to and with all ages. In addition to directing and accompanying the Chancel Choir, he organizes and coordinates the participation of all the choirs, musical groups, ensembles, as well as vocal and instrumental soloists in the Sunday morning services of worship, seasonal services, and any other special services. Ed also is the Choral Director and Fine Arts Chair at Cary High School and an adjunct music professor at Central Carolina Community College.

Ed earned a B.S. in Music Education, Indiana University of Pennsylvania; Master of Music Education, UNC Greensboro; and did Doctoral work at Boston University. Ed holds National Board Certification in the area of Early Adolescence through Young Adult Music.


Open Staff Position: Children’s Ministry Coordinator

Cary Presbyterian Church is seeking an energetic and patient part-time (12-15 hours per week) Children’s Ministry Coordinator (infants through 5th grade) to join the staff.  This position oversees and coordinates the educational care aspects of our ministries with children to enhance their Christian faith development.  The Children’s Ministry coordinator would recruit, orient and supervise teachers and care providers.  Additionally, this position would provide guidance, assessment, and implementation of educational curriculum in conjunction with the teachers.  This position will work closely with the pastors, other youth leaders, and the faith formation ministry area.  We are looking for a person that LOVES children and will bring their passions to this position.  If you are interested, please send a resume detailing your training, and experience and e-mail to  Belinda Weinbrecht at
